Connectivity & firmware updates

Plan a clear mobile experience for local device connections, media workflows and software updates.

Local network handoff

Some device workflows may require the phone to join a local network created by the glasses. Explain the connection change before presenting the operating system’s network prompt, handle denial or failure, and preserve the app’s state if it is suspended.

On iOS and Android, use platform-supported network-joining APIs and bind transfer work to the selected device network. Do not assume cellular internet remains available during a local transfer. Confirm background behavior on supported phone and OS versions.

Recoverable media transfer

Design for explicit user selection, durable local file storage, interrupted transfers and reconciliation after reconnect. Save application recovery state before backgrounding. Remove a device copy only after the app has verified and recorded successful synchronization.

Transfer protocols, network security, credentials and resume behavior will be documented with the supported SDK release.

Firmware update experience

Keep package discovery, user consent and release policy in your application or service. Use supported SDK operations to validate and execute updates, then present authoritative progress and final device state.

Package authenticity, compatibility, recovery and signing details must follow the release documentation. A completed file transfer alone does not mean an update succeeded.
